INTENDED USE

The Biotrin Human Herpesvirus-6 (HHV-6) IgG EIA is intended for use as an enzyme immunoassay for the qualitative detection of HHV-6 IgG antibodies in human serum.

ASSAY PRINCIPLE

The Biotrin HHV-6 IgG Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA) detects IgG class antibodies to HHV-6 in human serum samples.

The assay is a 96 well EIA, with each well of the plate coated with HHV 6 antigen. Patient sample are applied the wells and if HHV 6 IgG antibodies are present in the samples, they will bind with the HHV 6 antigen during an incubation step.

Following the 14 step assay procedure, the colour intenstity of the contents of each well is directly related to the concentration of the Human Herpes Virus-6 IgG antibodies in a patient sample.

As part of our continuous improvement service to our customers, we have made the following enhancements to this product:

• Inclusion of LSC – Lot specific constant. This number will be a batch specific number and it will be clearly stated inside the kit box lid. We have added an LSC to this product to minimise any lot to lot variation of results.
  
  
• Extension of time to read EIA plate after addition of stop solution from immediately to 30 minutes. This time has been increased to make the assay a more flexible and convenient option for a laboratory.

 This improved version of this product is available to purchase from January 2007.
