JOB TITLE:   

R&D Scientist  

REPORTING TO:  

Head of Research & Development / Team Leader

MAIN PURPOSE  OF JOB:  

  • Product Development
  • Providing technical support to other departments within the company.

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Development of immunoassays
  •  Project planning
  • Designing and carrying out experiments
  • Interpreting results of experiments 
  • Collating data in technical files
  • Technical problem-solving  
  • Preparation of technical reports
  • Carrying out literature searches   
  • Writing Standard Operating Procedures
  • Maintenance and calibration of equipment

PRINCIPAL QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:

3rd Level Degree in a Biological Science.

RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER JOBS / DEPARTMENTS:

Scientist will need to interact effectively with Sales & Marketing, Manufacturing, QA / QC and Technical Support

WORK EXPERIENCE:  

  • Lab experience in using and developing immunoassays.
  • Experience of assay development in a regulated commercial environment would be advantageous.

KEY SKILLS: 

  • Technical Skills:
                       Immunoassay techniques - EIA development
                       Protein purification and analysis, Protein conjugation,
                       SDS- PAGE, IEF
  • Project planning
  • Knowledge of design control procedures
  • Understanding of GLP, GMP and Regulatory requirements.
  • Problem solving

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Act as team player in a busy R&D Department
  • Ability to work to a deadline.
